Best Time Ever With Neil Patrick Harris is a live variety show re-imagined by the ever so talented Neil Patrick Harris (NPH) and it debuted Tuesday evening. I thought it was really fun! I really liked the energy of it being truly live and not perfect - just like a real party. For example, at one point, the show came back from commercials and NPH was still being miked and re-dressed after completing a stunt with Reese Witherspoon. (More on that later!) The hidden camera surprises were fun. Neil kicked off the show by demonstrating that he and his camera crew had stalked a newlywed couple at: their wedding, a football game, and their hotel with Neil sneaking into each of those places dressed for each occasion. He dressed as the football team mascot and made sure to get the couple on the kiss cam, greeted them at their hotel disguised as a bellman (complete with facial hair!), and photo-bombed the couple as they took their wedding pics!

Non-celebrity civilians weren't the only beneficiaries of NPH's undercover shenanigans. He also threw on a beard and glasses to prank the cast of hit NBC show, The Voice. In disguise, and donning a fake accent, he pretended to be a the host of The Voice: Austria. Check it out:

Celebrity Competition: Matt Iseman from NBC's American Ninja Warrior, did color commentary as Neil and his guest announcer, Oscar winner and game-for-anything, Reese Witherspoon, engaged in amazing daredevil stunt. They were raised 15 stories into the air, up climbed to a skywalk, then walked to the outer edge of another ladder, climbed up to a second skywalk and then a third where a zipline awaited each of them. Although, NPH finished this challenge first, and thus "won", Reese is a winner in my book too! My heartbeat is still beating like a jackhammer just thinking about that stunt!

Karaoke: International singer, Nicole Scherzinger helped NPH with a karaoke segment featuring the '70s disco legend, Gloria Gainer, who sang one of the best Karaoke songs EVER: "I Will Survive". While watching the show live, contestants were shocked to be chosen to compete in the karaoke contest. Gainer sang her iconic song and when she suddenly stopped, the at-home contestants would have to complete the line of the song. It's always fun to see folks jam out to a fun show with huge enthusiasm from their living rooms!

Chances to get lucky: There was a game show segment where NPH selected someone from the studio audience, quizzed her with questions about news from past week and for each question she answered correctly, she won a prize. She answered 16 questions correctly and, therefore, won16 prizes - sing me up!!!

Fun Finale! The end of the show was highlighted by NPH being the ultimate party host: as the conductor of this one-hour party, he lead a marching band and the audience into a loud, music-filled, finale frenzy with help from all of the show's guests (I even saw Carrot Top!), while Neil did seemingly random party tricks that entertained - magic, pogo stick jumping, flipping liquor bottles like he was Tom Cruise in Cocktail. Then it all came to a close as NPH declared that this hour was "the best time ever". We can all use a weekly hour of fun and "best times" so let's hope this lasts.
