I've got another great play for you to enjoy: Turn Me Loose. It's about the life of comedian and activist, Dick Gregory, heralded as the first African-American comic to expose white audiences to racial humor. In that sense, it is a riveting, educational walk down the autobiographical path of this man's life. This play is not boring. It is fascinating, funny, and profound. Indeed, how fortunate we are, in 2016, to be taken back in time via the prism of art, to the 1950s and 1960s and experience the situations Dick Gregory and the country underwent. Fans of the ABC television show Scandal will recognize Joe Morton expertly playing the role of Dick Gregory. Morton is joined by actor, John Carlin playing sundry roles that round out this fascinating story. Kudos must also be paid to playwright Gretchen Law and director John Gould Rubin for an incisive, marvelous, 90 minutes befitting this American icon.
